What makes the cuts in Cherriots even more distressing is to remember the $1.2 million being spent on expansion of Salem Airport when there is no one using it other than hobby pilots.

Amen -- the transportation funding system that pits various modes against each other winds up creating a lot of waste, as cities would rather blow dollars on useless projects in their own communities than "lose" the dollars (see them spent on useful projects elsewhere).
