Join In! Marion-Polk Food Share Community Gardens planning

Jordan Blake of Marion-Polk Food Share sends:

To Friends of MPFS and the Sustainable Community Gardens Program:

February is a critical month for planning and preparation for a community garden season that is emerging with the power of change. The focus of this email is to inform you, a growing team of citizens, donors, community partners, and volunteers, about the exciting projects that we are engaged in as we create a design system for program sustainability.

I will do my best to keep this email short, by communicating the objective at hand, which is to connect and share knowledge and vision for our collective garden planning session that is set for Monday, February, 16th, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Presidents Day)

This meeting [*] will offer great networking and learning opportunities for those that are just connecting with the sustainable community garden network, while it will also be a time to focus on short-medium and long term strategic program planning aims and details with the group. Last but certainly not least, we will gather over potluck as a community to talk about food, health, gardening, sustainability, self-reliance, energy, neighborhoods, community organizing, hunger, the economy, recession/depression, and social movements.

**Special Note: We are going to hopefully connect with Living Culture [Salem Community Cable TV station program] (www.livingcultureonline.com) to document this up and coming collective garden planning session. I encourage you to check out their website for more info.

Sincerely,
Jordan Blake

P.S. If you have any questions, comments, thoughts or concerns, please contact me. There are two weeks before we all get together, and quite a few things happening from now until the 16th. Specifically, there is going to be a work party at the SE Salem Neighborhood Garden on Friday, February 6th, from 10am to 4pm, with one project aimed at designing a rainwater catchment system.
