Another Great Salem Public Library free offering, Weds 8/8 @ 7 pm

Astronomy for Everyone:
Size & Scale of the Universe:

7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8
Anderson Rooms at Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty Street SE.

Retired astrophysicist Kevin Manning, a former NASA consultant, will present an exciting, family-oriented exploration of the universe, the stars, and other celestial wonders. Following an indoor presentation which includes video footage and hands-on activities, participants will go outdoors (conditions permitting) to view celestial objects in the night sky, such as the rings of Saturn and the craters on the Moon, through a telescope.

Thanks for the comment, with which I could not disagree more.

A subsidy is where A gives B money to reduce the apparent cost of a what would otherwise be a private transaction between B and C, usually in order to make B more profitable.

The public which built and pays for the operation of the library (A) is the same public that is welcome to come and enjoy this event, which is being offered to the public for free. There's no B or C in a deal where the public uses publicly owned resources to education to the public.
