STRONG Salem is for everyone who wants to help and participate in getting Salem, Oregon, to quit chasing Growth Ponzi Scheme plans and instead become a resilient, fiscally responsible place that lives by the wisdom that "Communities exist for the health and enjoyment of those who live in them, not for the convenience of those who drive through them, fly over them, or exploit their real estate for profit."

Seattle shows the way: Bans phone book littering
Image by The Library of Congress via FlickrAwesome. Salem City Council folks, are you taking notes and drafting ordinances yet? If not, why not?
Last year at my place of employment the phone book delivery person was quite forceful at delivering 5 phone books to us. There were only 5 employees and only 1 had a phone.
He also left about 30 in the building mail room. If he had done the 5 deal on all of the building occupants about 80 where 10 (Or none we all have Internet) would have been more than enough
