Alas, due to the decay of the nation's rail network, not that easy to access by train. When I'm Emperor, you'll be able to take a train to Cave Junction and then a shuttle to the fine old tour jumpoff point shown here.

STRONG Salem is for everyone who wants to help and participate in getting Salem, Oregon, to quit chasing Growth Ponzi Scheme plans and instead become a resilient, fiscally responsible place that lives by the wisdom that "Communities exist for the health and enjoyment of those who live in them, not for the convenience of those who drive through them, fly over them, or exploit their real estate for profit."

Oregon Caves --- if you're heading South, don't miss

Yes! Love the shagbark cedar siding on the old lodge, the winding route up to it, and, of course, the caves themselves, blessedly free of kitschy lighting, music, etc.
ReplyDeleteI, too, would like to be able to travel to this and other remarkable places by rail, as people did when the earliest national parks and monuments were established.
