STRONG Salem is for everyone who wants to help and participate in getting Salem, Oregon, to quit chasing Growth Ponzi Scheme plans and instead become a resilient, fiscally responsible place that lives by the wisdom that "Communities exist for the health and enjoyment of those who live in them, not for the convenience of those who drive through them, fly over them, or exploit their real estate for profit."
I agree. I haven't posted anything on the fair because I have only one thing to say. I saw nearly all of those same artists hawking the same art there last year. And this year, I paid five bucks for the pleasure.
I missed the event this year as I wasn't in town. I heard the security fencing was just LOVELY.
(That's sarcasm, donchaknow.)
The system of expos and fairs charging for admission to what amounts to a mall amazes me. I know what type of fees the artists have to pay for their booths; they are not cheap. How on Earth does it make sense to charge people for the access to peruse and purchase? Seems like a broken system, at best, to me.
